Pre-Retirement or Mid-Career Webinars for Ontario Residents

Our Webinars

The 4-evening webinars are offered to employees or workers and are designed to facilitate the transition from work to retirement by providing important information on the various aspects to be considered in planning for retirement. Participants will acquire knowledge and tools that will help them better prepare for this important transition.

The Pre-Retirement Webinars, delivered from Monday to Friday, from 6 pm to 9 pm, contain the following modules:

  1. Psychological Aspects of Retirement: This module focuses on the challenges and impacts of this life transition.
  2. Health and nutrition: The focus of this module is on diet, health and their impact on retirement.
  3. Estate Planning: This module includes all aspects of succession planning, and only Common Law will be discussed and presented by a lawyer.
  4. Financial Planning: This module deals with various topics related to good financial planning for retirement.

Workshop costs

  • The cost for an individual registration to a public group webinar is $425.
  • If your spouse wishes to participate, no additional fees are charged for his/her registration.

Important disclaimers

  • Cegep Marie-Victorin may cancel a workshop due to insufficient registrations by giving a written notice 10 or more working days before the start of the workshop.
  • When you register to a session delivered in the province of Ontario, only Common Law will be discussed and presented by a lawyer. Nonetheless the course material contains content covering Common Law in all Canadian Provinces.

Participants will acquire knowledge and tools that will help them better prepare for this important transition.

The 2-evening webinars are offered to employees or workers who are between the ages of 35 and 49 at the time of registration. Participants will acquire knowledge and tools to better understand financial planning and the nuances of the Ontario legal system.

The Mid-Career Webinars, delivered from Monday to Friday, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., contain the following modules:

  1. Estate Planning: Only Common Law will be discussed and presented by a lawyer.
  • Legal Status
  • Family and Marital Status, Matrimonial Regimes
  • Powers of attorney and Personal Directives
  • Intestacy, Wills and Codicils, Executor and Trusts
  • Probate and Taxes
  • Real Estate
  1. Financial Planning: This module deals with various topics related to financial planning.
  • Why and how to plan?
  • Sources of retirement income (Employer private pension plan, public plans: CPP, OAS and personal savings)
  • Investments and tax strategies (RRSP, TFSA, LLP, HBP, RDSP, RESP)
  • Life insurance and health insurance
  • Taxes (investment income, Exemption, Donation credit, Medical and Education expenses)
  • Pay your mortgage or save (food for thought/tools)

  • If your spouse wishes to participate, no additional fees are charged for his/her registration.

Individual Cancellation Policy

  • The Identified User may cancel or reschedule its participation to a workshop/webinar at no cost by giving a written notice, by email, to the Contractor at olivier.bloquiau@cegepmv.qc.ca at least 10 working days before the workshop/webinar start date.
  • If failure to cancel within 10 working days, the Identified User or the organization he/she is working for, shall assume full cost of workshop/webinar.
  • The Contractor may cancel or reschedule a workshop/webinar due to insufficient registrations, by giving a written notice, by email, to the Identified User, at least 10 working days before the start of the workshop. If a participant requires travelling to attend a workshop/webinar, we recommend travel and living arrangements be booked and confirmed, only within the 10 working days prior to the scheduled workshop/webinar in order to avoid additional fees to his/her department.
  • In the event that the Contractor does not provide a minimum of 10 working days' notice to cancel or reschedule a workshop/webinar, the Contractor will reimburse the participants its non-refundable travel and living expenses, if any.
  • If the Identified User or the Contractor has to cancel an individual workshop/webinar due to an unforeseeable of uncontrollable event, such as a strike, virus attack, pandemic, power or technical failure, no cancellation charges will be applied.

Group Cancellation Policy

  • The Identified User may cancel or reschedule a group workshop/webinar without incurring a fee by giving a written notice to the Contractor by e-mail at olivier.bloquiau@cegepmv.qc.ca at least 10 working days prior to the workshop/webinar delivery date.
  • In the event that the Identified User does not provide a minimum of 10 working days' notice to cancel a group workshop/webinar, the Contractor will be paid the price of the workshop/webinar and will be reimbursed non-refundable travel and living expenses incurred, if any.
