Pre-Retirement - Individual Registration

These four-evening webinars are designed to help employees and workers navigate the transition from work to retirement. Through practical information on the various aspects to be considered in planning for retirement and useful tools, participants will be better equipped to plan this important transition with confidence.

Sessions are held Monday to Friday, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

Webinars modules

  1. Psychological Aspects of Retirement
    This module focuses on the challenges and impacts of this life transition.
  2. Health and nutrition
    The focus of this module is on diet, health and their impact on retirement.
  3. Estate Planning
    This module includes all aspects of succession planning, and only Common Law will be discussed and presented by a lawyer.
  4. Financial Planning
    This module deals with various topics related to good financial planning for retirement.

Workshop costs

  • Individual registration to a public group webinar: $425.
  • If your spouse wishes to participate, no additional fees are charged for his/her registration.

Important disclaimers

  • Cégep Marie-Victorin may cancel a workshop due to insufficient registrations by giving a written notice 10 or more working days before the start of the workshop.
  • When you register to a session delivered in the province of Ontario, only Common Law will be discussed and presented by a lawyer. Nonetheless the course material contains content covering Common Law in all Canadian Provinces.

Mid-Career - Individual Registration

These two-evening webinars are designed for employees and workers between the ages of 35 and 49 at the time of registration. Participants will acquire knowledge and tools to better understand financial planning and the nuances of the Ontario legal system.

Sessions are held Monday to Friday, from 6 pm to 9 pm.

  1. Estate Planning
    Only Common Law will be discussed and presented by a lawyer.
    - Legal Status
    - Family and Marital Status, Matrimonial Regimes
    - Powers of attorney and Personal Directives
    - Intestacy, Wills and Codicils, Executor and Trusts
    - Probate and Taxes
    - Real Estate
  2. Financial Planning
    This module deals with various topics related to financial planning.
    - Why and how to plan?
    - Sources of retirement income (Employer private pension plan, public plans: CPP, OAS and personal savings)
    - Investments and tax strategies (RRSP, TFSA, LLP, HBP, RDSP, RESP)
    - Life insurance and health insurance
    - Taxes (investment income, Exemption, Donation credit, Medical and Education expenses)
    - Pay your mortgage or save (food for thought/tools)

  • Individual registration to a public group webinar: $200.
  • If your spouse wishes to participate, no additional fees are charged for his/her registration.

Individual Cancellation Policy

  • Participants may cancel or reschedule their registration at no cost by sending a written notice by email to olivier.bloquiau@cegepmv.ca at least 10 business days before the session start date. Cancellations received after this deadline will be charged in full.
  • Cégep Marie-Victorin reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a session due to insufficient registrations, with written notice, provided by email at least 10 business days before the start of the workshop. For participants travelling to attend an in-person session, we recommend booking travel and accommodation only within the 10 business days prior to the session start date to avoid potential additional costs.
  • If a session is cancelled with less than 10 business days' notice, Cégep Marie-Victorin will reimburse participants for any non-refundable travel and accommodation expenses incurred.
  • No cancellation fees will apply if a session must be cancelled due to unforeseeable or uncontrollable events, such as a strike, cyberattack, pandemic, power outage or technical failure.

Group Cancellation Policy
