Fit Technician-Technical Designer

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure the consistency of the fit, specification, quality, and construction of each garment.


• Communicate efficiently with overseas suppliers regarding standards, specifications, quality requirements to improve fit and functionality.


• Ability to interpret ideas into detailed sketches (Tech Packs) with all applicable information to ensure proper execution of each style; from conceptualization to execution of the final product.


• Maintain accurate tech packs, including detailed garment specifications, construction details, measurements, and materials for each style.

• Develop product standards across categories for fit, construction, quality and tech pack formats and maintain accuracy/consistency.


• Spec, measure, & inspect garments to ensure proper quality standards ensuring comparison of samples from prototype, Fit, PP PROD, and Inspection reports/rulings.


• Conduct fit analysis, schedule, and lead fit sessions, on live models/mannequins (live dogs) to ensure prototypes meet fit, construction, measurements, and quality requirements.


• Collaborate with Design/Brand and Production to troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues.


• Manage timeline to meet T & A calendar dates & deadlines, from product development through the entire production cycle process.


• Keep detailed records, track & log, of all technical design activities, from sketches and tech packs to sample reviews and revisions, ensuring timely updates and communications.


• Stay current with industry trends, garment technologies, and sustainable practices to contribute to the development of innovative, high-quality products.


• Collaborate, lead, and support all R & D projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• College or university degree in Fashion or related field.


• Experience in technical design, garment construction, fittings, patternmaking/grading within the fashion industry. Experience in outerwear is highly desirable.


• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop. Knowledge of PAD system is an asset.


• Able to lead and manage both development and R&D projects.


• Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external partners.


• Fluent in English, written and spoken. French basic skills.


• Broad minded, adaptive, and skilled problem-solver.


• Detailed oriented, meticulous, with strong organization skills.


• Team player.
