Daytime Training

This workshop is offered to federal public service employees and is designed to ease their transition from work to retirement and help them prepare for it.

Details

  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Location: Online (4 half-days) or in person (2 full days)

What sets us apart

Workshop content

  • Pension Plan: This module is delivered by a Public Service Superannuation Act (PSSA) certified Pay Specialist.
  • Health and nutrition: The focus of this module is on diet, health and their impact on retirement.
  • Psychological Aspects of Retirement: This module focuses on the challenges and impacts of this life transition.
  • Estate Planning: This module includes all aspects of succession planning.
    Note: Due the differences between the legal jurisdictions between Quebec and Ontario Provinces, and unless otherwise stated, when you register to a session delivered in the province of Quebec, only Code civil will be discussed and presented by a Notary. When you register to a session delivered in the province of Ontario, only Common Law will be discussed and presented by a lawyer. Nonetheless the course material contains content covering both legal jurisdictions available for each official language.
  • Financial Planning: This module deals with various topics related to good financial planning for retirement.

Registration fees

Private Group

  • The registration cost for a private group workshop varies from one province to the other due to the travel and living expenses per region.
  • If your spouse wishes to participate, no additional fees are charged for his/her registration.
  • The workshop should be for a minimum of 20 participants (excluding the spouses).

Public Group

  • The registration cost for a public group workshop varies from one province to the other due to the travel and living expenses per region.
  • If your spouse wishes to participate, no additional fees are charged for his/her registration.
  • The workshop should be for a minimum of 20 participants (excluding the spouses).

Cancellation policy

Group Workshop Cancellation

  • Group sessions may be cancelled or rescheduled at no cost by sending written notice by email to retraite.canada.retirement@cegepmv.ca at least 10 business days before the session start date.

  • Cancellations received after this deadline will be charged in full, including any non-refundable travel and accommodation expenses incurred by Cégep Marie-Victorin.

Individual Workshop Cancellation

  • Participants may cancel or reschedule their registration at no cost by sending a written notice by email to retraite.canada.retirement@cegepmv.ca at least 10 business days before the session start date. Cancellations received after this deadline will be charged in full.

  • Cégep Marie-Victorin reserves the right to cancel or reschedule a session due to insufficient registrations, with written notice, provided by email at least 10 business days before the start of the workshop. For participants travelling to attend an in-person session, we recommend booking travel and accommodation only within the 10 business days prior to the session start date to avoid potential additional costs.

  • If a session is cancelled with less than 10 business days' notice, Cégep Marie-Victorin will reimburse participants for any non-refundable travel and accommodation expenses incurred.

  • No cancellation fees will apply if a session must be cancelled due to unforeseeable or uncontrollable events, such as a strike, cyberattack, pandemic, power outage or technical failure.
